The Leavers: A Novel
Lisa Ko
Sleeping Beauties: A Novel
Stephen King, Owen King
Bird Box - Josh Malerman

Utterly suspenseful and scary! I think it is the fear of the unknown, of being blind. Ironic how being so vulnerable (blind) is the only means of protection.

Mile 81 (Kindle Single)

Mile 81 - Stephen King too quick of a read!

The John Carlos Story: The Sports Moment That Changed the World

The John Carlos Story: The Sports Moment That Changed the World - Dave Zirin, Dave Zirin, Cornel West just heard him speak at the Baltimore Book Festival. very inspiring and engaging. can't wait to read this!

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, Book 1)

A Game of Thrones - George R.R. Martin it started slowly due to having to develop a boatload of characters. once the story started rolling, it picked up like a snowball rolling downhill.

The Pillars of the Earth

Mireasa cu sosete rosii - Adela Greceanu I am nearly done, it is 2am, and I can't put it down!
I just finished and loved how real history was intertwined with fiction. I just finished a book on Eleanor of Aquitaine so Thomas Becket's murder was still fresh.

All the Devils Are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis

All the Devils are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis - Bethany McLean, Joe Nocera Good book, but not light reading!

Code Blue (Prescription for Trouble, Book 1)

Code Blue - Richard L. Mabry Hated the church stuff, medical stuff okay.
But it was FREE!

Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary

Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary - David Sedaris, Ian Falconer I was expecting something more lighthearted...
I was surprised at how dark some stories were..

The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates

The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates - Wes Moore, Tavis Smiley It's amazing how just a few decisions made early in life can have lasting effects. It's a very sad story, especially since you know that not only is it true, but it gets repeated everyday, many times over.

Every Last One: A Novel

Every Last One - Anna Quindlen I am not done yet, but I just spent the better part of my Saturday morning bawling on my deck. Coffee got cold, bugs were buzzing around my head, but I am loving this book. It's desperately sad and heart-wrenching, but sometimes a good cry over a fictional character's problems can be so cleansing! Not a good selection for book club, since I can think of a certain long, blonde-haired someone absolutely hating this book! Not enough gore, grisliness, or ghosts.

Cat of the Century (Mrs. Murphy Series #18)

Cat of the Century - Rita Mae Brown The series has gotten worse with each book! I still love the animal characters, but the humans were getting annoying. And although I like politics, Brown's insertions of her opinions on taxation, the size of government, gun rights, etc, really had no place in a light-hearted ANIMAL mystery.

Birdology: Adventures with a Pack of Hens, a Peck of Pigeons, Cantankerous Crows, Fierce Falcons, Hip Hop Parrots, Baby Hummingbirds, and One Murderously Big Living Dinosaur (t)

Birdology: Adventures with a Pack of Hens, a Peck of Pigeons, Cantankerous Crows, Fierce Falcons, Hip Hop Parrots, Baby Hummingbirds, and One Murderously Big Living Dinosaur - Sy Montgomery never knew birds could be so fascinating! the chapter about the Ladies (hens) was entertaining, cassowary was fascinating, and I loved the hummingbird chapter! Makes me want to hang up a feeder...
I LOVED this book! All the little facts about birds really opened my eyes to their intelligence, personalities, and uniqueness.

Rebecca (Virago Modern Classics)

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier, Sally Beauman Not my usual type of book, but I went on a recommendation from a friend, and I was surprised to enjoy it! Those out there who enjoy Jane Eyre type books would like this.

Shades of Grey: A Novel

Shades of Grey: A Novel - Jasper Fforde It was good but I found the end rather disturbing/depressing...
It didn't help I was sick when I finished the book, so my mood wasn't the brightest!
